As you grow into adulthood, you will become more and more responsible for your finances.  The adults in your life will no long be responsible for making sure you are comfortable.  Today's tips offer some general guidance about your money.

  • Pay attention to what you spend.
  • Learn to balance a checkbook.
  • Save money.
  • Don't put it all in one place.
  • Have an emergency fund.
  • Don't trust any investment to last forever.
  • One day you'll turn around and be trying to retire. Social Security is NOT going to be enough. Working into your seventies is fine if you do it because your bored. If you have to in order to pay for food, it really sucks.

Today's thoughts come from Tim K., the straight dad of a gay son, and grandfather to two gay youth.
